The Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Vardhaman College of Engineering serves as the institutional hub for academic innovation, community engagement, research translation, and startup incubation. Strategically designed to integrate innovation into education and practice, CIE fosters a culture where ideas evolve into impactful solutions for society and industry. Housed in one of the most advanced and architecturally distinctive glass infrastructure blocks of the campus, CIE symbolizes transparency, collaboration, and forward-thinking education. The facility brings together multidisciplinary innovation, research, incubation, and entrepreneurship activities under one dynamic ecosystem.

The Community Innovation & Transformation (CIT) wing of Vardhaman Innovation and Entrepreneurship Wing (VIEW) is driven by the EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) program, which embeds innovation into the academic curriculum. Implemented as a credit-based progression across the first four semesters (1 credit per semester), EPICS ensures that students engage in real-world problem solving, design thinking, prototyping, and entrepreneurial exploration from the early stages of their engineering journey.
Established in 2014 and formalized in 2018 through collaboration with Purdue University, EPICS has evolved into a structured innovation framework under the R25 curriculum, progressing through CCDT, Product Design & Development, Technology Entrepreneurship, and Community-Driven Product Evaluation, enabling students to transform ideas into validated solutions.
Aligned with NEP 2020, SDGs, and Outcome-Based Education, CIT fosters socially responsible innovators and transforms learning into experiential, impact-driven outcomes.
The Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship maintains collaborations with leading academic institutions and innovation organizations to strengthen its educational and research initiatives. These partnerships enable the institution to adopt global best practices in innovation education and entrepreneurship development.
The EPICS framework implemented at Vardhaman College of Engineering is inspired by the globally recognized EPICS program developed at Purdue University, USA. This academic collaboration played a significant role in introducing community-driven engineering education at the institution. Through this association, faculty members received training in the EPICS methodology, which emphasizes design thinking, interdisciplinary teamwork, and real-world problem solving. The collaboration helped integrate EPICS into the academic curriculum and laid the foundation for the Community Innovation & Transformation (CIT) initiative.

The Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) collaborates with several organizations to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship activities. Key partners include the Wadhwani Foundation and NASSCOM Foundation, which support entrepreneurship education and technology-driven innovation initiatives. The center also engages with Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), T-Hub, TiE Global, and the Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) to provide mentorship, startup incubation, and participation in innovation programs. Additional collaborations with the Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, India Drone Academy, Chitkara University, and SR University further support research, emerging technology training, and innovation-driven learning.

Facilities: A dedicated ~2,500 sq. ft. Maker’s Space, together with the AICTE IDEA Lab, provides access to advanced fabrication tools supporting mechanical and electronic prototyping — from IoT hardware and PCB development to CNC-machined components and 3D-printed models.

The VEC Centre for Research and Innovation Foundation (CRIF) is the institutional incubation unit of Vardhaman College of Engineering, supporting innovators, startups, and entrepreneurs through structured pre-incubation, incubation, and startup development programs.
Dedicated incubation space with startup workspaces, mentoring areas, collaboration zones, and prototyping access.
Formally registered as VEC Centre for Research and Innovation Foundation, a Section 8 company (CIN: U85500TS2023NPL174501).
Established as the campus incubation center to support student startups and entrepreneurial initiatives.
CRIF supports startups across multiple domains including digital platforms, product development, artificial intelligence, clean technology, and emerging technologies. Incubated ventures include faculty-founded startups, external innovators, and technology-driven enterprises that leverage the campus innovation ecosystem.
Startups at CRIF benefit from access to institutional laboratories, Maker's Space prototyping facilities, domain expert mentoring, co-working infrastructure, and linkages with national innovation programs. Several ventures have received recognition under the DPIIT Startup India initiative, enabling them to access national-level funding and ecosystem support.
The Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) at Vardhaman College of Engineering is the student-facing engine of the CIE ecosystem — nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets, surfacing innovative ideas, and guiding aspiring founders from awareness through to incubation under CRIF.
